About Roy Brown

Since the beginning of his career as a public servant, Roy Brown has been guided by the principles he learned as a business leader and family man.

Subsequently, Roy's successful career in energy development took him around the globe, but his love for Montana never diminished. In 1983 he returned to Billings to raise his family and start a small business. He quickly became a community leader and wanted to find a way to give back to the state he loved – that is when Roy found his future in public service.

Roy’s leadership ability was recognized by his legislative peers, and in 2002 he was selected as the House Majority leader where he became their go-to man on the most important issues such as; education, tax relief, and energy development.

Since 1999, Roy’s legislative career has been guided by his belief that Montanans do best when the government governs least. He has fought for lower taxes to stimulate economic growth, an accountable and fiscally responsible state budget, energy development, and for the important role of empowered traditional family life.

Though Roy serves the triple roles of family man, business man, and public servant, his family has always taken center-stage in his life. He married his wife of 31 years, Kim, in 1976, and together they have three children: Katie (27), Gillian (20), and Roy Jr. (19).
